Transcribed Image Text:STUDY C: A team of researchers noted that in video games, there are not typically many female role models and those that do exist tend to be heavily sexualized. They wondered what effect this might have on a female player's body satisfaction. To test this, they had female participants play the Sims 4 for 30 minutes. For half of these participants, their avatar was sexualized (e.g., wearing revealing clothes). For the other half, their avatar was non-sexualized. In addition, the researchers manipulated whether or not the avatar resembled the participant. Afterwards, they measured body dissatisfaction with a subscale from an eating disorders inventory.
