This memo is about the new energy harvesting procedures.
As you are all aware, Mr. Waternoose and his evil partner in crime, Randall Boggs, will no longer
reign terror over innocent children. They have finally gotten caught in their evil schemes and
have been terminated. This communication is to inform you that Monsters, Incorporated will
no longer harvest children's scream to supply energy to the great city of Monstropolis. Effective
November 30, Monsters, Incorporated will switch to children's laughter as our power our city.
After carefully analyzing observation reports from our Scarer Quality Assurance Team (SQUAT),
it was determined that our previous method of harvesting screams failed to produce adequate
power to address the energy needs of all citizens. This method was also found to have
traumatic effects on the mental and emotional health of children. After conducting several
studies, we have found that laughter produces energy at a rate that is ten times more powerful
than screams. This will reduce company spending by 76%.
Beginning Monday, November 9, 2020, all SFCMs will undergo a mandatory three-week
Laughter and Fun Fundamentals (LAFF) Training during which you will learn the most effective
techniques to generate laughter in children. LAFF skills will include comedy sketches, kid-
friendly stand-up, magic tricks, and exaggerated silliness.
A LAFF Training Guide is attached. Please complete the form and submit it to Celia Mae by 3:30
pm on Friday, November 6. Thank you for your commitment to the Monsters, Incorporated
family.
