Reply to this discussion post: Redwood National Park is located around the northern part of California, it is basically near the coastline and almost reaches to Oregon's border. A few cities that surround it are Eureka, Crescent City, and Arcata. Eureka has a population of 26,489 people in 2021 and has been steady over the years, hardly any change in the population and if there is it is declining. For Crescent City, their population in 2023 is 6,789, its growth rate is 0.89% annually. Arcata's population is 19,174 and has been steadily growing since the 1960s. The park was established in 1968 to help preserve the ancient redwood trees that grow there. The park helps the environment by keeping the air clean and removes carbon dioxide helping sever the severity of climate changes. The trees also provide shelters for different animals that live in the forests. Living near this protected area does have benefits for humans as it can boost people's moods, provide clean air and water, and overall help a person's well-being. Fishing practices are allowed in the park as well.  The park does attract a good number of tourists and does support the local economy. Helps support the many jobs that surround the area and raise a good amount of money. However, some people are causing a negative impact on the park's environment by damaging plants and leaving behind waste. The foot traffic in the park is said to have damaged the root systems in the trees, and have even pushed eroded soil and trash into the streams of water. Climate change is another negative impact that is happening all over the world. There are staffs and leaders who do help protect this area and various websites that bring attention to preserving areas like this one.
