Publicity stunts are the thing that immediately caught my eye, considering I wrote my initial "What is PR?" with that idea specifically in mind. Even now, we can see celebrities like Doja Cat employing weird, off-brand marketing to entice more listeners into checking out her music. It's a bit of a page out of Lil Nas X's book, but I like it. These publicity stunts do involve social media, but social media itself is also another key part of how we practice PR today. For instance, a lot of companies hone up to their wrongdoings by posting on social media, and almost every mainstream company nowadays has a social media / PR person working for them to ensure they maintain maximum relatability to the populace. Exaggeration/lies are still very prevalent today, depending on the sphere you're looking at. However, I do believe that with this generation's focus on accountability and social justice, people are much less likely to lie to your face to get you to invest in something. As the world becomes a lot more scrutinized as a whole, we eliminate a lot of potential for misinformation. I think most of the changes we see to PR nowadays are good; however, I do find that the over-baking of social media has allowed for some companies/celebrities to put up a façade that filters out the real feedback from getting to the people that matter. As a society, we've become a lot more focused on how things look, which doesn't always translate to how things are.    plEASE HELP REPLY TO THIS DISCUSSION
