The Liberation war of Bangladesh is a significant historical event of 20th century. It is also known as the Bangladesh war of Independence. The war began when the Pakistani military based in West Pakistan launched Operation Searchlight against the people of East Pakistan on the night of 25 March 1971. The war lasted till 16th December 1971. The genocide in Bangladesh also started with the operation in order to suppress the rising demand of self-determination and bengal nationalist ideologies.
