Expert Solution
Step 1

DNA Replication is the synthesis of new daughter DNA strands complementary to the template DNA strands through a semiconservative mechanism catalyzed by a DNA-dependent DNA polymerase enzyme. The polymerase reading template strand of 3' to 5' polarity synthesize the new strand in a 5' to 3' direction (leading strand). The polymerase reading template strand of 5' to 3' polarity will synthesize discontinuous Okazaki fragments in 5' to 3' polarity. Later, these fragments are joined together by a ligase enzyme to form a lagging strand of polarity 3’ to 5’.
