The image depicts a petri dish with bacterial colonies growing on an agar medium. The colonies appear to be arranged in streaks, which is a common method used to isolate and identify bacteria in laboratory settings. The dish shows both linear streaks and a densely populated area where the bacteria have formed a more substantial growth, possibly indicating different stages or techniques in the streaking process. The background surface is a laboratory workspace, adding context to the experimental setting. This setup is typically used in educational environments to demonstrate microbiological techniques and bacterial growth patterns.

Introduction

Catalase is an enzyme that reacts with hydrogen peroxide to form water and oxygen. Catalase enzyme is seen predominately in organisms that live in oxygen-prone environments. It protects organs such as the liver from preventing the accumulation of peroxide, which is formed continuously by numerous metabolic reactions.

Catalase is a tetramer of four polypeptide chains each having 500 amino acids. It contains four iron-containing heme group that allows its reaction with hydrogen peroxide. The optimal pH for Catalase is 7.
