What is self esteem?

Self esteem is a way a person thinks about oneself, his abilities,his strengths and his weakness.

A person experiences different types of self esteem at different time of his life and it maybe affected by:- 

  • Thoughts of a person
  • Health of a person. An unhealthy patient may have low self-esteem than a healthy one.
  • The surroundings and environment. A person maybe self confident and high esteemed at one place, but may loose his self esteem at another place.
  • Personality of a person
  • Age
  • Life experiences

There are 3 main types of self-esteem a person may have:-

  1. Inflated self esteem
  2. Low self-esteem 
  3. High self-esteem

In inflated self-esteem, a person underestimate others and think themselves as better than other people.

In low self esteem, a person undersetimates himself and think themselves as below average.

In high self esteem, a person accepts himself as he is and tend to love themselves.
