Introduction
mdole acetic acid (IAA) is a plant growth hormone which are produced by the meristem cells in the growing tips of plait
shoots. IAA causes apical dominance and by preventing the development of lateral buds.

Materials:
• Dwarf pea plants
Indoleacetic acid (IAA) solution
Ruler to measure height
Safety: Prepare and use safety equipment, including lab coats, safety gloves and goggles.
Method:
1. Divide pea plants into 2 groups
2. Each group will consist of 3 pea plants of similar heights
3. Assess the growth of each plant by making the following measurements at the start of the experiment
a.
Measure the height of the plant from the soil surface to the apical bud
3.
b.
Count the number of expanded leaves on each plant

Count the number of visible internodes on each plant
Apply treatments as outlined in the following table

Apply IAA to the apical bud
