How has modernity impacted the Christian tradition? what are the major challenges that Christian communities face today?
The Christian community has completely transformed multiple times as time has gone on. The beginning of the early modern era is dated to the renaissance and the age of exploration in the 1400s. These phenomena, along with the spread of literacy due to the printing press led to the protestant reformation. Later the age of enlightenment again led people to reinterpret their faith. The Scientific Revolution and the Industrial revolution came next. Also, Christianity in this period spread to new regions of the world, truly becoming universal religion by winning converts in Africa and Asia. Modernization continues to impact the Christian community today.
