Here's the question: Dr. Deming's 14 Points: Select one of the points and elaborate why you chose it and cite examples from your work experience or research. Is this philosophy still applicable in management? Here's my classmate's answer: For Dr. Deming's 14 points, I am choosing number eight being "Drive out fear" because of my own work experience, I have had first-hand experience with being under management that gave fear to employees and transitioned to a "drive out fear" management team. Working in retail for 3 years, during my first year I had worked under a management team, both as an associate and supervisor where it felt like everyone has to walk on eggshells because of how the store manager worked the store. Every employee could not exactly be themselves or work in a store where they can actually feel comfortable. It felt like we had to worry every time we clocked in, now that I have been promoted to Assistant Manager, I had to transfer to a new store, which became a whole new change in which i now see as "Drive out fear". It was a new change and i was part of that leadership significantly, we assured our employees that they can work in our store comfortably and be themselves. I ensured that management in this store will let employees work together and never feel like they should be scared of any such things within the workplace. I have visited other stores and have been able to see employees work comfortably and experience the "drive out fear" method. This philosophy is applicable to management as it does provide good results to employers when seeking employees that desired long tenured jobs. Employees that are able to experience this philosophy will want to stay and increase productivity to the business, which will result in better service to consumers.
