Explain the concept of the BAT probe which is used to obtain sample of soil water/gases in boreholes.
The sample collection of soil water or gases in boreholes is a different level of experimentation. Various method are been associated to sample collection. The advanced method is BAT probe which is being used to obtain sample of soil water / gases in boreholes. These samples are collected to know the various water related characteristics of soil and much more.
The BAT probe is a kind of unique probe used to investigate and collect the soil sample or water / gases sample without much disturbance to the soil. It is widely used for collecting water samples from groundwater or borehole.IN this BAT probe there is Filter tip and intelligent sensor. The intelligent sensor has both the pressure sensor and logger in one unit. The major component of BAT probe that comes into use is the Filter tip. The probe is put in side the earth surface or in bore holes and then the filter tip is started by using an injection needle which goes deep and penetrates the flexible spectrum. This is done in such a way that the injection needle and septum form the components of leak-proof quick connection. Now, later the needle gets retracted and the filter tip which has septum inside is automatically resets. The needle can be penetrated many a times with septum in it without disturbing the self-sealing property of the probe. In this way, the soil water / gas sample is obtained from bore holes.
