Anecdote:
Describe a scenario when you were unable to maintain or supply the demand for oxygen to
certain muscles. If you do not have one, describe a reasonable scenario. In this scenario,
describe the relationship between your ability to do work with your muscles and both aerobic
and anaerobic respiration.

Procedure:
Date:
1. Hold a clothes pin with your thumb and index finger of your dominant hand (left hand if
the person is left-handed), and open and close it while the other fingers of the hand are
held out straight. The number of times the clothes pin opens to its maximum distance in
20 seconds is recorded. Students should attempt to squeeze quickly and completely to
get the maximum number of squeezes for each trial.
2. Repeat this process for nine more, 20 second trials. Your partner should have your lab
paper to record the data. You should call out to your max number squeezed at the end
of each trial. Restart counting at each new trial. Do not rest the fingers between trials.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the non-dominant hand.
4. Switch and have your partner(s) complete steps 1-3.
5. Prepare a line graph (X-axis = Trial number, Y-axis = Number of squeezes) with two
sets of data on the same graph: Dominant and Non-dominant hands. Include axes.
