Centrosomes and Cancer Centrosomes are an organelle involved in the process of cell division. To be specific, centrosomes organize microtubules during cell division and then divide themselves (Segre 2021). "Centrosome aberrations are the hallmark of human cancers". These centrosome abnormalities can be either structural or numerical, but either way can result in cancer in humans. Abnormal centrosomes are linked to the disruption of normal cell and tissue organization and chromosomal instability found in malignant tumors (Salisbury et. al. 1999). The symptoms of cancer vary depending on where this malignant tumor is located, and can range from pain to weight loss to abnormal lumps and bumps. Treatment methods and possibility also vary with cancer depending on where the tumor is located. Some common cancer treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.    This part provide an alternative disease that affects the organelle. What causes the disease? Genomic studies

Genomic studies (genomics) is the study of the whole genome of an organism. Using bioinformatics and high-performance computing, genomic researchers examined massive amounts of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)-sequence data to discover variations or mutations that affect drug response, health, or disease. Genomics is a much younger discipline than genetics, having only emerged in the last few decades as a result of technological advancements in DNA sequencing and computational biology.
