ABC (Pvt) Ltd. is a reputed organization in manufacturing industry in Sri Lanka which produces baby toys. It has 1500 non-executive level employees and they are represented by two trade unions. Among those trade unions “Sewaka Handa Union”, owns the highest membership backed by a radical political party. Sewaka Handa had several discussions on demanding higher wages but was not received any favourable response from the management as company experience a drop in sales for the recent past. As a result of that few of the non-union members also joined to the strike. Since the company has some urgent orders to be delivered, management requested from the strikers to report back to work promising that they will consider the request to increase the salary once the sales increase.
