ABC FOOD COMPANY The ABC Food Company is a food industry company that produces frozen meat, and Mortadella. It has a staff of 360 employees. The company is located about 20 km from Salalah. About 35% of the employees are women. The company consists mainly of four sections: production, Marketing, HR. and finance. There is one manager for each department. Mr. Mohamed Al-Ahmad is the director of the production and development department. He is the oldest employee of the company. He was hired because of his experience in the field of food production. He holds a certificate from the Mediterranean Institute for Food Industries. He worked as a quality controller in a large company outside Oman for 20 years. His colleagues consider him an efficient and moderate engineer, He spends much of his time over the past month developing a long-term plan to develop an effective decision-making model for future spending on equipment and buildings and has a positive feeling of senior management's reaction to the first drafts of his plans. Mr. Majd is Head of Sales and Marketing. He holds a PhD in Management from the United States. He is the most recent employee in the company, and his experience does not exceed one year in marketing and sales. His colleagues see him as very enthusiastic and have high communication skills, but not enough knowledge of the nature of the company's product. Majd's goal is to increase the company's annual sales by 15%, but sales for the first quarter indicate that the growth rate of sales is less than 1 % only, with the number of employees and sales representatives increasing by 50%. Majd is very optimistic from the first day of his work engagement. In the last month there have been problems with his management. Sales staff talk about his lack of knowledge of the food industry. In the discussions on new products, Majd is often confused and has difficulty describing the company's capabilities to external customers. Because he does not seem to fully understand how a food industry company works. Ms. Fatima is the financial manager of the company. She has been working for the company for two years as a financial manager and worked as an accountant for five years. She worked as the General Manager's secretary for another five years, although she holds a middle school diploma. She started her work in the company after receiving the intermediate diploma certificate, Her goal is to reduce costs by 25%, especially on wages and bonuses. Ms. Fatima was promoted in the company as a result of her hard work and full loyalty according to what the staff tells the owner of the company. However, she always complained about how the staff looks at her. They regard her as having the greatest strength and influence in the company, Those who hold university degree among the staff think that Ms. Fatima doesn't deserve her position. Mr. Salim Al Mahmood heads the human resources department, which was created six months ago and holds a B.Sc. in Human Resources Management. He suggested to the General Manager the importance of establishing HRM department in the company and that it will be the panacea (solution) for the recent decrease in sales. Salim worked in UAE for six years. The rest of the department managers see his positive relationship with the GM as temporary and will not last because he will not be able to do anything by his verbal and theoretical words about caring for employees and improving their morale. In addition, his proposals from the perspective of financial management make it worse, because improving the working conditions for the employees will increase the costs. Recently, there has been a clear conflict between the financial manager (Ms. Fatima) and Mr. Salem Mahmoud, and the illness of the general manager has worsened the situation. Most of the female employees complained about Fatima's management of finances. Do you think that employees are not accepting Fatima as a manager because she is a woman, and what she should do? 5. According to the trait theory of leadership which of the leaders is the best and why? 6. What are the disadvantages and risks of appointing manager from outside the company, and what are the disadvantages and advantages of appointing one of the four?
