A husband and wife have typical vision, although both of their fathers are red-green colorblind (an X-linked recessive trait). a. From this information, determine the appropriate symbols for the wild-type and color- blind alleles and write the genotypes of the husband and wife. b. What is the probability that the couple will have a son with typical vision? c. What is the probability that the couple will have a daughter with typical vision?

Expert Solution
Step 1

It is an inheritance of an X-linked recessive condition.  In the recessive condition, only one mutated copy of X chromosome is required to express phenotype while in the female two copies of mutated X chromosome is required to express phenotype.

Normal X-chromosome - X

X-chromosome responsible for red-green color-blindness - Xa.
