Displacement, Velocity and Acceleration
In classical mechanics, kinematics deals with the motion of a particle. It deals only with the position, velocity, acceleration, and displacement of a particle. It has no concern about the source of motion.
Linear Displacement
The term "displacement" refers to when something shifts away from its original "location," and "linear" refers to a straight line. As a result, “Linear Displacement” can be described as the movement of an object in a straight line along a single axis, for example, from side to side or up and down. Non-contact sensors such as LVDTs and other linear location sensors can calculate linear displacement. Non-contact sensors such as LVDTs and other linear location sensors can calculate linear displacement. Linear displacement is usually measured in millimeters or inches and may be positive or negative.
![Q2 .
a) For the displacement equation, s = t² +t- 5, find the velocity and
acceleration equations and plot each equation for the first 5 seconds.
b) Compute your average velocity in the following two cases: (a)
You walk 73.2 m at a speed of 1.22 m/s and then run 73.2 m at a
speed of 3.05 m/s along a straight track. (b) You walk for 1.00 min
at a speed of 1.22 m/s and then run for 1.00 min at 3.05 m/s along a
straight track. (c) Graph x versus t for both cases and indicate how
the average velocity is found on the graph.](/v2/_next/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcontent.bartleby.com%2Fqna-images%2Fquestion%2F2a5315f8-161b-4ea6-8c5d-ce090240b811%2Fc9b5ec9c-c855-4b45-9b62-b4312f593ff9%2Fn25b4x_processed.jpeg&w=3840&q=75)
