Report
Group 1 Comparative Analysis of Male Heights at Truman State University and the American Male Average Data Collection Notice: Create a tally sheet that indicates your question and a column showing the results of each person in your sample. Your sample size must be a minimum of 30 people, and your tally sheet must include labels and units. (25 points) • Data Analysis H0 = 69.1 Ha ≠ 69.1
– State H0 and Ha (10 points) α = .05 – Set the significance level α = .05(10 points) T-Stat= 2.6145603 P-Value=0.014 – Compute the test statistic or P-value (20 points) – Make a decision (10 points) Since the P-value is < α, reject the null hypothesis and conclude that there is sufficient evidence that the average male height at Truman is different from the average American male height. • Write a minimum of a five-sentence summary of your findings. Use the following questions to guide you in writing this summary. (25 points) Based on the results we have collected, we reject the null hypothesis since the P-value (0.014) is less than the significance level (α = 0.05). Therefore, there is sufficient evidence to conclude that the average male height at Truman University is different from the average American male height. There are many variables that make the results what they are. This question is a sensitive topic right now, as many people lie about their height to make themselves seem taller. So, of course, there is the chance that people lied about their height to the people asking. Although self-reported data can impact the reliability of our findings, I believe the information is accurate enough to provide a good approximation of the average height for a Truman student. After completing this project, the only areas of statistics that are still not clear to me are the topics in chapter eleven, and only because we have not finished said chapter and my knowledge is incomplete. – What conclusion can you make based on the results you collected? – Do you think there were any variables (reasons) that might have made your results what they were? – Based on the survey/data sampling you collected, do you believe it is a good representation? – After completing this assignment/project, are there any areas of statistics that are still not clear to you? Be as specific as possible.
