Explain. My biggest learning from this module was the importance how to find the median in a data set. What is still confusing or was difficult about the learning in this module? Explain. Something that was difficult was understanding the difference between the value of the median and the position of the median. Using the equation n+1/2 made the process easier to find the median. What can you apply from this module to your classroom? Be specific and draw from the standards. (This response should be fairly lengthy, e.g., 500 words). In this module, I can apply the way that Professor Kader introduced the ideas of representing data using different types of graphs. The teachers were tasked with finding the median of a set of data over the raisin’s activity from a previous day. They were to put the information in ascending order. During this activity they learned to find the median of the data. One group started on each side of the number line and worked their way to the middle to find the median. Another group was able to figure out that there was a way to find the median using the equation n+1/2. This helped them to find the measurement of position or the median. Once they’d found the median they were able to identify other data points such as the min and max variation. From there students were there be able create a box-and-whisker plot as a way to represent the distribution in the data. They then worked on applying their new knowledge of box-and-whisker plots into generating them on the computer using technology. I am not sure as to how I can implement what I 1 3/21/24 19:19 a3/p3
saw/read about such as using the five-number summary of data and creating the box-and- whisker plot. I do think that something I can take away from this is the importance of showing student multiple ways to represent data and how using those different representations can apply to the real world. I can do so by having them create various graphs utilizing various technology websites such as Google Sheets. They can input their data into a table and decide what types of graphs/table they would like to represent their information they collected. 2 3/21/24 19:19 a3/p3
