Data Analysis Lab Instructions Anticipate your analysis: Potential Claim 2: People between the ages of 45 and 64 years are more likely to have high cholesterol than people between the ages of 20 and 44 years. 1.) Figure C Step 2: question 2-4 Put table of numbers here 1st graph here 2nd graph here Insert blue table Step 3: Questions 5-12 insert black data tab;e 5. The max for cholesterol concentration in people 22-44 yrs is: 290 6. The min for cholesterol concentration in people 22-44 yrs is: 122 7. The mode for cholesterol concentration in people 22-44 yrs is: 150 8.The median for cholesterol concentration in people 22-44 yrs is: 191 9.The max for cholesterol concentration in people 45-64 yrs is: 331 10. The min for cholesterol concentration in people 45-64 yrs is: 137 11. The mode for cholesterol concentration in people 45-64 yrs is: 200 12. The median for cholesterol concentration in people 45-64 yrs is: 213 Step 4: 20-44 years
45-64 years 13. -11% (11/100= 0.11x100=11%) 14. 27% (27/100= 0.27x100=27%) Step 5: Step Five:
15. The claim that is better support by the evidence provided above is that the drug company should target advertising towards people at 45-64 years of age 16. After data analysis the evidence supported the claim that the drug company should target people at the age of 45-64 years, based on the probability of developing high cholesterol. Referencing the table in step 3 showing cholesterol level concentrations you see that the group stated has a higher maximum cholesterol concentration value at 331 mg compared to 290 mg provided by the sample size of the 20-45 year old population. Further data showed that the relative frequency percentages obtained a 27% probability that 45-65 year olds would develop high cholesterol which is 16% higher than the 20-45 year old population, whose probability stood at 11%. Step Six: 17. The probability function that best matches the shape of the frequency distribution of cholesterol concentration in people between the age of 20-44 years is C (Skewed distribution). 18. I utilized the frequency distribution graph for ages 20-44 year olds as seen in step two, by analyzing the graph I was able to determine skewed probability distribution due to the single mode that is shifted to the left creating a large slope down leaving a long tail on the opposite side of the skew. 19. The probability function that best matches the frequency distribution of cholesterol concentration in people between the ages of 45-64 years is A (normal distribution). 20. By analyzing the frequency distribution graph for ages between 45-64 years old as seen in step two, i determined that normal distribution best represents the effects of the central mode creating a bell curve showing symmetrical tails on either side
