Assignment 2: – Sampling Dano’s Pizza is interested in conducting research in Columbia to understand factors which could influence their customers’ overall satisfaction . For this purpose, Dano’s Pizza has designed a questionnaire and is ready to collect data using a survey. However, Dano’s Pizza has a limited budget to collect data, and it is also facing a tight timeline . 1. Which survey method would you recommend to Dano’s Pizza in the current situation? Please explain your answer in about 30-40 words. Please note that you need to recognize the time and the money constraint (underlined above) while selecting the survey method. Whichever method you select, please be specific and clearly justify your answer. (25 points) I would recommend for Dano’s pizza to launch an online survey in their current situation. An online survey would be the least costly and very easy for customers to fill out the survey and to collect customers information. 2. Who should be the respondents for the above suggested survey? Please select from the options provided below. Please recall that respondents should belong to the target population relevant for this study. (25 Points) A. Potential customers of Dano’s Pizza. B. Existing customers of Dano’s Pizza in Columbia. C. Residents of Columbia. 3. What type of sampling method should be used (non-probability/probability) to draw the sample from the target population and why? (13 points) (Provide your answer in 1-2 lines). Which specific sampling technique should be used and why? (Provide your answer in 1-2 lines). (12 Points) Please note: (1) that you recognize the constraints faced by Dano’s pizza. (2) When selecting a sampling technique please make sure it is consistent with the sampling method you selected in the first part of this question. A nonprobability sampling method should be used to draw the sample because it is faster and less costly than probability sampling. Dano’s pizza should use convenience sampling because the customers will be easily accessible, and it is cost effective as well as quick. 4. In another study, a researcher decided to use probability sampling method. How many respondents should be surveyed by the researcher (i.e., what should be the sample size) if she wants to be 95% confident that the Page 1 of 2

findings from the sample are within a margin of error of ½ a point (on a 1- 7 scale) and the population standard deviation is 1.5. (25 points). Please provide both the formula (12 points), and all the calculations (13 points). The sample size using probability sampling method should be 35.
