2 The primary objective of a crisis intervention is to relieve tension caused by unpleasant life events while also giving mental and physical assistance. As a result, during a crisis, clients appear distressed and feel they have run out of options, with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Crisis intervention officers, on the other hand, are those who can offer advice and ideas to clients in order to assist them feel like they can go on. As a result, the hybrid model assists workers in applying tasks and putting them to use in order to assist clients in moving forward. As a result, crisis workers take their time implementing all seven different tasks to assist clients who take the time to listen and learn. A crisis can be anything but” will not always follow a linear stepwise model” ( Hybrid Model of Crisis, n.d.) ; it might be chaotic and all over the place. "The hybrid model of Intervention combines the former linear model with the systems model" (James & Gilliland, 2017). This approach, however, is regarded linear in progression but also allows for changing conditions and other activities that must be completed. There are seven tasks in the hybrid model, including the default task of maintaining safety (James & Gilliland, 2017). “Pre-dispositioning (Engaging or initiating contact) appears as "...what going on today?"(James & Gilliland, 2017) "Can you tell me more about that?” These questions show interest in finding out about the crisis. The client feels she is with people who are sensitive to her issues and want to hear the client's feelings. “Exploring the problem appears as consistently asking questions, probing about the situation” (James & Gilliland, 2017) and figuring out why the client is acting persistent. On why he’s feeling the way he is. Questions like "Can you tell me what actually happened? Rick says he cannot hold a job, feels he cannot be there for Holly, and "Well,
3 we talked about choices". ( Crisis Intervention Team Officer Training - 2015 , n.d.). “Providing support appears the officer is offering services to help Rick, he provides a way to cope with his thoughts and taking the medication, but this is what we can do” (Crisis Intervention Team Officer Training - 2015, n.d.) “Examining alternatives” appears the officer clearly advises Rick that they are intent on finding resolution. "So, what steps do you think we can take from here, to make this a better situation" ( Crisis Intervention Team Officer Training - 2015 , n.d.)? “Making plans with the client, the officer clearly indicates that their main concern is moving toward resolution, and they are capable of putting together plans to help” (James & Gilliland, 2017). "We need to send you with the EMT’s and get you to the hospital to be evaluated" ( Crisis Intervention Team Officer Training - 2015 , n.d.) “Obtaining commitment from the client can be difficult” (James & Gilliland, 2017). The officer wants to ensure the client will do his exam. "Okay. Now, can I get a commitment from you that you are going to go to the hospital to be evaluated And, again, if you start getting frustrated and start not being able to handle it, you can give me a call” ( Crisis Intervention Team Officer Training - 2015 , n.d.) “Follow up is for making sure there is a plan.” (James & Gilliland, 2017). "Okay Tell me, what's your plan? What do you need to get done before our next session" ( Crisis Intervention Team Officer Training - 2015 , n.d.)? And, in this example, having the client confirm what they will be doing before "our next session". As crisis workers in this profession, it is critical to demonstrate the phases of this model in order to assure a successful completion for the client. The major goal of the client and the crisis

4 worker should be to bring the client back on track to where they were before the crisis, if not better. Using these phases is not only useful to their recovery, but also provides skills that they may take with them later, allowing them to no longer require services. After learning how to deal with and apply what is taught here, an individual can return to what was considered their 'norm' and preferably operate in life without feeling helpless or hopeless.
