Question 11-12 Resources Bables and toddlers: Amazing learners - Video 1 Include in your answer the following points.. (Approximately 300 words) » Three (3) strategies you would use to encourage children’s active participation « What you would model in your interactions with others (list two (2) important behaviours and how you would demonstrate them to children, families and colleagues) » How you would acknowledge children’s achievements (i.e., to develop confidence, resilience and a learner mindset) Your Answer - (1) As an educator at Little Catalysts ELC | would strive to guide and support children to become confident and resilient learners. To achieve this | would create an indoor environment that is inclusive and stimulating, with a range of resources and activities that are engaging for different interests and abilities, such as an art area, building blocks, a book nook and an imagination play area allowing the children to collaborate, problem solve and enhance their communication skills Another strategy | would use is providing the children with regular outings such as bush kinder, walks in the community, and visits to the library and community centre, to provide the children with a sense of community and connection, as well as being engaging and exciting for the children. These experiences would contribute to the children's confidence, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. Another strategy | would use is to provide the children with an outdoor area that offers opportunities for climbing, running, moving, exploring, and sensory experiences through climbing equipment, open spaces, gardens and sandpits etc, allowing the children to gain confidence and resilience through physical challenges, free exploration of the natural environment, and engaging in sensory-rich activities. Behaviours that | would model in my interactions are active listening and collaboration. | would demonstrate these by facing the person | am speaking to, maintaining eye contact, and asking follow up questions. To demonstrate collaboration | would engage in cooperative activities. | would acknowledge children's achievements by praising them for their determination and efforts, irrelevant of what the overall outcome Is, to develop confidence and resilience. | would do this by giving verbal praise, awarding stickers or stamps, displaying their work (arts and crafts) and keeping families informed about the children's achievements.
