Dy’Mond Scott Walden University- School of SW Week 3: CREATING A SINGLE-SUBJECT DESIGN STUDY 12/17/2023 Dr. Greg Perkins
Introduction I will delineate a single-subject evaluation strategy for Tiffani Bradley in this proposal. A 16- year-old Caucasian girl named Tiffani Bradley was referred to the Teens First program after her apprehension for engaging in prostitution. The courts mandate the Teens First counseling program for adolescents who have survived sex trafficking. Social workers provide these adolescents with a variety of services through the Teens First program. Tiffani's case may present difficulties due to her prior prostitution-related arrests and her cohabitation with Donald, with whom she has been estranged since she was 14 years old. Upon admission to Teens First, Tiffani presented with burns and bruises on her arms and legs, which may have been the consequence of physical violence. Tiffani has a documented medical history of receiving treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). During her consultation, it was observed that she is presently undergoing antibiotic treatment for a kidney infection. Tiffani had a distressing history of maltreatment and neglect, which was uncovered upon further inquiry into her infancy. Tiffani observed her parents and uncle using narcotics when she was eight years old; she claimed that the incident frequently escalated into conflict between them. Her uncle and his companion Jimmy also subjected Tiffani to sexual abuse. A thorough single- subject evaluation is the most suitable approach to determine the efficacy of the Teens First intervention, given the unique characteristics of Tiffani's case. An assessment strategy will be formulated, an evidence-based methodology will be selected, and the evaluation will center on the identified issue areas while measuring the produced results. So that she may lead a stable and healthy life, Tiffani's principal objective is to furnish her with resources and support that will facilitate her recovery from her traumatic experiences.
Literature Review As it occurs in the United States, Tiffani's case serves as a prime illustration of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Treatment that is tailored to the specific requirements of adolescents who have survived human trafficking and sexual exploitation must include education, housing, trauma-informed care, and other necessary resources. The extremely vulnerable population in question requires early intervention and services, as illustrated by Tiffani. Regarding the impact of social media on the mental health of adolescents, numerous studies have been undertaken. According to a study by Kross et al. (2013), adolescents' well-being was negatively impacted by their excessive Facebook usage. Adolescents' anxiety and depression symptoms may be correlated with Instagram use, according to another study by Huang et al. (2016). Adolescents who spend more than three hours per day on social media are at a greater risk of developing mental health issues, according to a study by Van der Velden et al. (2018). Additional research I conducted examines the potential mental health effects of social media on adolescents. Social comparison, as suggested by Lin et al. (2016), has the potential to adversely impact the mental well-being of adolescents. In conclusion, notwithstanding the divergent results, it is logical to conclude that the utilization of social media platforms by adolescents can and has affected their mental well-being. Maintaining the momentum of this research endeavor is crucial to raise consciousness regarding the potential adverse effects of social media usage on mental health and the potential efficacy of interventions to mitigate such effects.

Methodology In this investigation involving Tiffany Bradley, a quantitative research design would be most suitable. Through online administration of a questionnaire, quantitative research enables the collection of data. Primary and secondary sources of data collection may be utilized. Principal data will be gathered via an online survey instrument utilizing a questionnaire that consists of closed-ended inquiries pertaining to the participant's experience in relation to the subject matter. The secondary sources of data will consist of existing literature and research that is pertinent to the subject matter. Using descriptive and inferential statistics, the data obtained from the questionnaire will be examined. Descriptive statistics will be employed to evaluate and depict the data, while inferential statistics will be utilized to assess the research and outcomes. In order to identify patterns and relationships, this will require the collection, cleansing, coding, and execution of the data. To safeguard the collected data for the sole purpose of the study, measures of confidentiality and anonymity will be implemented. Setting and Intervention The research was conducted at a Level I hospital in the United States, specifically at a facility renowned for its trauma center. A population of various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds is served by the hospital. The intervention implemented in this study was a novel emergency department triage system. The principal objective was to assist in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the triage process. This was accomplished through the identification of patients whose needs were more urgent and the subsequent provision of timely treatment for those patients. This study utilized a number of components, including the implementation of standardized triage and the expeditious processing of patients with less urgent requirements. Data was collected throughout the six-month duration of the implemented interventions in order
to ascertain the final result. This included the length of time that patients were required to wait in the emergency room. The collected data was subsequently analyzed to ascertain the intervention's efficacy. Expected Results This study intends to provide evidence that the implementation of a mindfulness-based approach in the workplace can effectively mitigate symptoms of tension and anxiety. The intervention is anticipated to additionally assist the participants in maintaining concentration and regulating their emotions. The purpose of the study is to establish empirical support for the efficacy of the utilized intervention in enhancing the well-being of the participants.
