7-1 Final Project: Executive Summary Sesalie Walker February 21, 2023 Southern New Hampshire Laura Greenlee
Summary Aileen Wuornos was born in Rochester, Michigan on February 29th, 1956. In her childhood, she experienced a violent upbringing stemming from an unstable family setting, sexual abuse, and parental abandonment. In the mid-1970s she was involved in sex work which caused legal complications. There wasn’t any information on her education level, she was also married but soon divorced. Also, she had a baby that was taken and adopted. She became famous when she murdered 7 individuals in late 1989 and 1990 along the highway in Florida. (Jenkins, 2022) She was arrested in 1991 and in 2002 she was executed. I do see a motive Aileen did say she experienced sexual abuse from her grandfather and brother at a very young age. So, I can see how all her victims are men. She did not like men much, due to her previous interactions with them. You would think because she was a prostitute all of her actions were influenced by sexual cravings. Since she got a past of sex work and all the men, she murdered she claimed self-defense. (Real Stories, 2021) Which could be a motivating factor as well. After she got her brother 10,000 life insurance policy and used the money to purchase a car which she later crashed. She became a sex worker which may suggest that sexual desire is a motive. Aileen also has a background of forgery and theft which suggests that getting money from forgery can be a cause and motive. This is supported by the statement that female serial killers mostly are motivated financially rather than sexually. (Publishers Weekly, 2022) Also, there's proof that most female serial killers that are driven by obtaining money are unlikely to assault their victims, due to them being seen as more caring. (Publishers Weekly, 2022) Which
strengthens the case that sexual desires are not her motive. Even though Aileen admitted that sex work is a dangerous business and that she is happy with her work and being able to provide the services. (Jenkins) Since it’s such a dangerous and violent job, her self-defense plea may be justifiable. Crime Assessment Hung Tien Pham and Aileen Wuornos are compared, and both are wanted by the FBI. Hing is a 63-year-old Asian man currently. He is most known for the Boston Chinatown Massacre. (FBI, 2021) Even though he was from Vietnam all of his criminal acts took place in Boston, Massachusetts. In multiple ways, they were compared, for example, the way firearms are used in their crimes and there was always a clear target. Aileen focused on means Hung researched Chinese Americans while living in Chinatown in Boston. They both had multiple victims and there’s still one more person missing. In this situation, individuals who are unaccounted for are the ones who got away from the scene of the murder or were never recovered. (FBI,2021) Aillen and Hung's crimes were both committed 5 years from one another and around a couple months from one another. When examining the reasons Hung's motive was more obvious. As stated in the reports, Hung is involved with the Ping On crime business. The group of criminals specializes in trafficking and murdering Chinese Americans. Hung was already a part of the crime and was told to kill for exchange or money or was joined into ping on crime by murdering in Boston. Profile

Aillen grew up in a neglectful and abusive household by a very unstable family. While her father was incarcerated, he committed suicide, and her mother neglected her. Her grandparents, while she was in their care claimed to be their parents, belittled, and abused her. Aileen grandfather was an alcoholic and she eventually picked up the habit and a sequence of aggressive behavior at the beginning of adulthood. (Visible Ink Press, 2021) After having a baby and her grandparents died, she started to prostitute. She supposedly moved to Florida due to her being homeless and she prefers the warmer climates more than cold ones. There were several environmental and biological elements that Aileen was exposed to that affected her behavior. After her parents and grandparents beat and abandoned her, she accepted their hostile behavior and assaulted her spouse with his care. (Visible Ink Press, 2021) Her hostile behavior was an exact add-on to her violent actions. It’s possible her development was influenced by sexual abuse by her brother at a young age. Due to trauma and abuse, she could have developed a mental illness or a dislike for men, which hinders her from making successful coping strategies. Lastly, her behavior continued to be influenced by the environment in which she kept herself, which was a hostile environment for being a prostitute. Her hostile behavior was boosted by her habit, which added to her criminal acts. Aileen was the type of serial killer to seek pleasure, she was happy with her skill in helping herself in a hard situation. Most likely her victims were her customers, due to her background in sex work and victims that were men. The fact that she killed her victims with guns, may have given her a sense of high from her adrenaline. Due to her past trauma, she may have focused on men within a certain age range.
Conclusion and Investigative Use Aileen Wuornos's case presents a complicated tapestry of motivations powering criminal behavior. Beginning from a convergence of volatile encounters, complex psychological surfaces, and a deep-rotted search for dominance and control. Even though definitive causal links between these components and the actions of criminals create challenges, they assist as crucial components giving valuable perspective into possible impacts of Aileen behavior. (Biography.com, 2021) Aileen's difficult childhood and later criminal acts, particularly the sequences of murders, are all rooted in the past trauma of her upbringing. Aileen criminal acts operated as a path for venting oppressed emotions and maintaining control or finding punishment against a perceived enemy. (Biography.com, 2022) Aileen case synthesis, besides relative analysis Hung Pham's case shows reappearing patterns that are related to manipulations, dominance pursuit, trauma, and emphasizing the psychological base of this criminal behavior. This combination emphasizes the need for a complete understanding of the influence of diversity to successfully understand and address complex criminal acts. (Biography.com, 2021) In foreseeing possible criminal behavior in the future, the unresolved trauma, and control pursuits appear as important aspects. Interventions require well-informed trauma tactics, highlight mental illness assistance, and for people who had traumatic experiences rehabilitation. Select initiatives emphasize regulating emotions, strategies of coping, and for criminal incline social integration has shown to be instrumental. Initiatives encourage good skill development and social connections provide a good path to redirect actions away from criminal ways, which ultimately lessen the risk of relapse. (Crime and Investigation, 2022)
Restriction in the analysis comes from insufficient psychological assessment, subtle social contexts, and complete family interaction data. The dependability of old accounts and court documents may not express complex psychological nuances, while limited entrance to the person's thoughts forces restrictions on the profoundness of analysis. The incorporation of additional data references, for instance complete psychological evaluation or intimate diary would increase the accuracy and the full report. (Crime & Investigation, 2022) The organized data significantly added to explain the factors that affect Aileen criminal behavior, thereby assisting in her comprehension, legal proceedings, and apprehension. Comprehension analysis builds a structure for taking similar cases to increase the understanding of psychological foundations vital for later investigative attempts and improvement in criminal justice procedures. (Biography, 2021) Lastly, Aileen case gives a crucial understanding of the complex mixture of motivation-boosting criminal behavior, coming from a mixture of traumatic occurrences, complicated psychological facts, and a persistent pursuit of dominance and control. Even though initiating direct reason remains difficult, these elements represent vital aspects that provide meaningful awareness of the possible effects of Aileen actions. (Biography.com, 2022)
