DIRECTIONS: After reading Chapter 3 in your textbook, view "Problem Solving with the Corning Family" (all 5 sessions). The videos are located in Part 2, Chapter 12 in Cengage. Provide evidence from the videos that highlights the Phases of the Helping Process for each of the identified points. Evidence can be provided in bulleted or numbered points. It does not need to be in paragraph form. You will need to utilize evidence from all 5 videos in your responses (cumulatively, not for each activity). When providing evidence for each activity, please indicate to which session you are referring. Phase I: Exploration, Engagement, Assessment, and Planning 1.Provide evidence from your viewing to show how the worker explored the Corning Family’s problems by eliciting comprehensive data about person/person, the presenting problem, and environmental factors. Transitional housing, needing new housing (1) Kids school (1) Husband wanting to go back to work (1) 2. Provide evidence from your viewing to show how the worker established rapport and increased motivation. Introduced herself in a friendly manner (1) Shows active attention to both clients (1) She is delicate in acting the right questions without making them feel bad about themselves (1,3) Talks to them in a professional manner (all) Explains over and over to them that this is their choice (1) 3.Provide evidence from your viewing to show how the worker formulated a multidimensional assessment of the problem, identifying the systems that play a significant role in the difficulties and identifying relevant resources that can be utilized or must be developed (problem exploration skills are used during the assessment process that begins with the first contact with clients and continues throughout the helping relationship). She explains how she can help these clients, she tells them that she can help them with any of their current stressors. 2.Provide evidence from your viewing to show how the worker selected and implemented interventions She gave them realistic options (all) The worker gave them scenarios and helped them work through them, such as the kids during time they would be looking at places. (2 and 3) 3.Provide evidence from your viewing to show how the worker planned task implementation, enhancing self-efficacy Finding an affordable apartment and giving them options to be able to find a better living situation.
