Jolie Brown MANA 3319 Chapter 10: Analyze Positive Change for an Organization November 8, 2023 Based upon the team to which you were assigned for this class (MANA 3319), prepare a detailed plan for leading positive change either within a UTA organization or within this course. The plan should address the following questions (also outlined in the book) with very specific and actionable ideas . Refer to the chapter for examples. The questions are: 1. In what ways will you work to create a positive climate? What will you actually do? The ultimate way we want to work to create a positive climate is to change the frameworks of those we are trying to impact. In other words, we want to exchange established schemas associated with the feelings of pride, or lack thereof, towards the school for more positive frameworks that will change the culture of the school. What we will actually do is to create a “Spirit Week” at UTA. Our main goal is to increase the amount of pride felt by UTA students towards their school. 2. In what specific ways will you create readiness in others to pursue positive change? The first step we will take is to encourage and excite the staff and associates who will be involved in implementing the Spirit Week. Doing this will require education on what we are trying to do and how we can achieve this. This education session should effectively limit negative deviance in the program, excelling the effectiveness of Spirit Week. The way that we will create readiness in students is to “hype up” Spirit Week as it approaches. We will do this by posting signs for spirit week around campus, doing giveaways of t-shirts and other things students can use/wear during Spirit Week, and using social media to promote Spirit Week on multiple platforms. 3. What is your specific vision of abundance? How will you communicate it so that it is accepted and energizing to people? Our specific vision of abundance is to increase the pride and satisfaction among students towards their school. We will communicate this by establishing positive energizers all over campus. During Spirit Week, there will be individuals across campus who will specifically be tasked with energizing students around campus to be excited about the school they go to. These energizers will be tasked with informing students about the benefits of going to UTA, and with running activities that encourage positivity among the students. We will encourage responses from students so that we can better understand their feelings not only about Spirit Week, but about UTA. We will also use compassion to closes abundance gaps . 4. How will you generate commitment to that vision among others? Identify specific actions? In order to generate commitment to the vision among others, we will have several service projects around campus that students can sign up for and
participate in, all geared toward the goal of improving UTA. Over all of the projects across campus, we will have consistent feedback from students, and we will foster an environment of friendly competition to encourage students to emotionally invest into the work they are doing, and to UTA. 5. What will you do to institutionalize and create irreversible momentum for your positive change? One of the things we will do to institutionalize and create irreversible momentum is to offer programs where students who were involved in Spirit Week activities can become UTA ambassadors and leaders of activities conducted around the school year. These ambassadors will conduct activities and identify future ambassadors and leaders. This builds human capital and allows for an evolution across the learning stair . 6. Now, identify the specific things you will need to do personally to exemplify and model your positive change? How will you enhance your own credibility? The things I will need to do personally is to personally participate in Spirit Week and the following activities over the school year. I will also exemplify UTA pride in the work I do and in my everyday life by being involved in UTA extracurricular activities, and by wearing UTA clothing and accessories. This will enhance my credibility by showing the students I work with and the ones that I am encouraging to be more prideful about UTA that I also care about the university and feel pride about going here.
