Discussion Four Hello everyone, A common norm associated with gender roles in modern families is the expectation that women are primarily responsible for organizing and coordinating family events, such as holidays, gatherings, or children's activities. This reinforces the stereotype that women should handle the emotional and social aspects of family life. When individuals or families violate the norm of women being primarily responsible for organizing family events, they may encounter various reactions. There could be disapproval or surprise from others who adhere to traditional gender roles. In some cases, the person challenging the norm might face criticism or judgment for not conforming to expected roles. However, such norm violations can also contribute to positive change by challenging and reshaping traditional gender expectations within families and society. I do see there is a notable trend of evolving gender norms within families over time. Societal shifts, increased awareness of gender equality, and changing expectations contribute to this evolution. As societies become more progressive, there's a growing acceptance of diverse family structures and a move away from rigid gender roles (Silva & Smart, 1999). Additionally, as more women pursue education and careers, and men become more involved in domestic responsibilities, traditional norms are being redefined. However, the pace of change varies across cultures and regions, and some resistance to these shifts persists due to deeply ingrained cultural and social beliefs. Overall, the trajectory suggests a gradual move toward more egalitarian and flexible gender roles within families. Several driving forces can either limit or accelerate changes in gender norms within families. Limit: Cultural Resistance: Deep-rooted cultural beliefs and traditional values may resist changes in gender norms, slowing down progress. Media Influence: Stereotypical portrayals of gender roles in media can perpetuate traditional norms, hindering progress toward more equitable family dynamics. Accelerate:

Economic Empowerment: As more women achieve economic independence and pursue careers, it accelerates the shift towards more equal sharing of responsibilities within families. Social Movements: Advocacy and social movements promoting gender equality and challenging stereotypes play a crucial role in driving change within families and society.
