Often we see news from around the world with alarming statements about sociocultural issues affecting society and safe environments in our communities or even leading to violence or hate behaviors. How do you think this will affect you as a marriage and family therapist working with couples? The first thing I like to do when I notice there is conflict within different communities is research. I feel it is important to fully educate myself on the issues at hand. I think It will be important for me to consistently stay informed on what’s going on in the world, so I can best service my clients. I will remain curious in knowing how I can help couples process some of these sociocultural issues. I know that there will be some issues that have been around for years, and new sociocultural issues will always arise.
