2 Chosen Actions After approval as a Global Citizen, I participated in various actions on the platform. The first action was responding to a quiz. The quiz I focused on was the global crisis I empathize with most. Embracing modernization in exchange for socio-cultural-specific values is a major international crisis. It is pivotal that global citizens advocate for recognizing traditional values because they make communities unique and contribute to social sustainability. I engaged in one action, which was to demand equity. There is a rising gap between the rich and the poor globally. These gaps take racial, ethnic and geographical patterns and affect the lives of millions globally. As a global citizen, I believe it is time to focus on equality and building a more inclusive society. Regarding the petition, I also signed a petition to help in fighting cervical cancer. Cancer is a chronic disease and among the leading cause of death among women. By participating in petitioning for cervical cancer, the goal is to contribute positively to helping women have more access to health services. Access to better health may bridge the gender gaps in accessing health services. For images, I uploaded a picture showing how Rwanda is taking green initiatives in Kigali. Rwanda is among the few African countries that have embraced greening as a solution to the current crisis of global warming and pollution. Rwanda is also moving towards gender equality in governance because it has become the first country where women are majority in parliament. Impact Articles May, C. (2023). According to the report, the contributions made by Global citizens through non-profit organizations serving families in Ukraine have helped to provide critical needs such as food relief to affected families. Reflection and Conclusion My actions generated the desired impacts. On the demand for equity action, I received some support from my peers, who believe that it is time that leaders and agencies candidly openly commit to solving inequalities. My petition on cervical cancer and my photo also received some attention. People concerned about global issues are interested in open and honest discussions on how the problems should be resolved. Global Citizen is an effective way of creating change in today's society. One reason why it is effective is because it gives people with the same opinions a platform to advance their ideas. Second, Global Citizenship connects individuals to global realities, which may inform change. Through global interactions, I understood the challenges other people are going through and how other international citizens and non-profit entities are contributing to positive changes. Reviewing the impact articles has made me realize that international efforts can change the lives of vulnerable communities. 4 part of the Global Community can lead to self-fulfilment. Slacktivism is supporting social or political causes through online platforms. Slacktivism is effective because it unites people with common agendas. When people with common goals get together, they achieve more significant goals. In a world where technology rules, online activism is the way to go.
