Choose one of the six graphs and compute the r-squared value. Interpret this value in terms of variation. From the body weight scatter plot, r = 0.542 r-squared =0.294 From this, it can be inferred that the linear relationship between resting metabolic rate and body weight accounts for 0.542 (or roughly 29%) of the variation in the latter.
