2 Assignment part 2 A description of the fictional agency setting and types of services provided at this agency The fictional agency is called Hope Agency. The agency provides different types of services, for instance, educational classes, support groups, parenting tips, and workshops. Each client receives services that match their needs. A description of the client system. The client's microsystem contributes a deal to her issues. A person's microsystem includes her immediate environment. The client's immediate environment is unsettled as a result of the financial crisis that she is facing. An explanation of the presenting concern Sara, I am a twenty-six-year-old working mother of three children. She has been depending on child support payments to support her children effectively; however, she has recently not received the payment. She also faces a challenge at work as she is at risk of losing her job, causing her to be distressed and need support. A description of the client session scene in which you implement the GIM step and practice skills you have selected for working with this client system A social worker can implement the generalist intervention model at any scene when dealing with a client. In Sara's case, I will implement the generalist intervention model from start to end to ensure the best possible output. I will implement the seven steps of the generalist intervention model to ensure Sara gets the support she seeks ( Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2018). A description of the techniques you used to implement the GIM step and the practice skills you selected for the client interaction that occurs between you, as the social work intern, and the client(s)
3 To implement the generalist intervention model, I focused on some of the significant issues the client faces, such as distress. The client has difficulty dealing with the risk of losing her job while not receiving child support payments. A description of the visual cues or non-verbal communication that both the social worker and the client exhibited during the interaction that supports the GIM step and practice skills you selected Some visual cues that the social worker and the client exhibited include gestures, eye contact and unconditional positive regard. Through gestures, the client expressed her frustration with her current situation. Eye contact helped convey emotions that the social worker and the client could not convey through words. As the client was already going through a hard time, the unconditional positive regard helped encourage her to share more about her current situation. Identification of specific practice techniques/skills demonstrated The client initially showed frustration towards her current situation; however, by receiving unconditional positive regard, she became more relaxed about sharing more information about herself.
