Squares, Triangles, Circles, and Hearts
Squares: 4 ideas that, in general, square (±t) with your thinking
1. God is seeking to rescue, redeem, and restore his lost world. Humankind rebels
against God, and God responds in both judgment and grace (Cartwright, Guiterrez, &
Hulshof, p. 37). God created humanity and had the ideal connection with us. All of it
was lost with the fall of humanity, and God is currently attempting to mend our
connection with him.
2. The main subject theme of the Bible is God’s work to answer the rebellion of
humankind with his redemption (Cartwright, Guiterrez, & Hulshof, p. 37). The Bible is
a tale of redemption; it is a plea to fallen humanity to contemplate the holiness and
grandeur of the only real God and to turn away from sin in favor of the salvation He
provides through His Son, Jesus, who is God's designated and provided Savior.
3. At the heart of inspiration is the recognition that each and every word of the
Scriptures comes directly from God (Cartwright, Guiterrez, & Hulshof, p. 48). I believe
this phrase relates to my own life since I believe that God is the source of all
inspiration in my life. The Bible's inspirational verses may serve as a roadmap for our
life.
4. “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” (Cartwright, Guiterrez, & Hulshof, p.
49). The Word of God is true.
It is this reality that sancti±es us, sets us apart for holy service to God.
Triangles: 3 angles you have never considered before
1. “The Scriptures are one book divided into two testaments. These two testaments
are made up of sixty-six smaller books” (Cartwright, Guiterrez, & Hulshof p. 36).
Rather than seeing the Bible as a single book, I had always thought of it as a
collection of sixty-six volumes, divided equally between the Old and New Testaments.
2. “Rebellion is a subtle inner vow that we make at a personal level in our
deepest heart that says, I reserve the right to make the ±nal decision. I
deserve the right to make the ±nal decision" (Cartwright, Guiterrez, &
Hulshof, p. 41). The quotation serves as a warning that we are all capable of
disobeying God. Any one of us can make decisions that go against His will.
However, the quotation also serves as a reminder that we don't have to rebel.
We have the freedom to obey God and submit to His will.
3. God has also given human beings some responsibility. They are to take care of
God’s good creation.” (Cartwright, Guiterrez, & Hulshof p. 41). I had never
contemplated the idea that God loved the Earth as much as he loved us and that we

were tasked with taking care of the environment around us. I always thought that we
are to take care of ourselves and our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Circles: 2 questions that are circling in your mind.
1. Were Adam and Eve born with sin inside of them? Or did It only take root in them
after Eve decided to eat from the tree?
2. How can we be certain that the Bible's account of God's promise, as prophesied in
Revelations, will come to pass?
Hearts: 1 idea that you loved.
1. "
When the believer sins, Jesus the Righteous One advocates for us. It was
our sin that made the work of Christ so necessary. However, the way we deal
without daily, minute by-minute battle with sin demonstrates whether or not
we understand the Bible."
This phrase, in my opinion, is crucial because it demonstrates that both God
and Jesus are aware of our wrongdoing and that it is normal. Nobody has a
²awless existence.
