According to Letšosa (2021, p. 1), it is difficult to fully comprehend the precise meaning of "mark of the beast" in its historical context. And I believe this statement to be accurate. At the same time, the historical context may offer exciting interpretations of the mark of the beast. However, its true significance lies in the spiritual context of the Bible. People have tried to connect modern technology to the biblical phrase "mark of the best" since I can recall. I once heard a preacher say that credit cards were the true "mark of the beast" because they eliminated the need for purchasing goods and services with physical currency. I can confidently assert that this interpretation is inaccurate because money and credit cards are still used to buy goods and services. Today, people claim that radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology is the true mark of the beast. This theory has gained traction due to RFID technology's positive and negative applications. Revelation 13:16 (KJV) states, "And he causes all, whether small or great, rich or poor, free or slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their forehead." Because RFID technology can be implanted in the body and has wireless capabilities, this verse may lead some to believe it is the mark of the beast. However, verse 17 contradicts this notion: "Let him who has intelligence calculate the number of the beast, for it is
the number of a man; it is 666." This verse states that 666 is the "mark of the best," which has nothing to do with technology. Because of this, I am convinced that technology and the Bible are somewhat incompatible, especially regarding having faith in God. Jesus brought the dead back to life without RFID technology. I must point out that RFID technology has significantly simplified and enhanced the flow of certain aspects of our lives. Nonetheless, I must remember that biblical values have no connection to RFID technology. God's glorification and service constitute the central purpose of biblical values. In my opinion, RFID technology is neither a sign from God nor the mark of the beast because it can be utilized for good and evil. God is good all the time. I believe the mark of the beast will be based on evil (Satan) and his last stand against God. Everyone must understand that the Bible and God's word should not be interpreted for comfort or convenience. Therefore, I cannot place my faith in RFID technology. RFID technology is an outstanding innovation with numerous benefits and drawbacks. It can potentially enhance and improve the lives of countless ill individuals.
On the other hand, wireless transaction identity theft can diminish the quality of life for individuals. RFID
technology can track or apprehend criminals or transform people into criminals. Today, RFID technology is used in bombs to kill thousands of people across the globe mercilessly. RFID technology has innumerable benefits and drawbacks. To keep moral and spiritual equilibrium, humanity must determine how to use RFID technology with caution and by biblical principles.
