Session 1 Discussion Yamil Figueroa Colorado Christian University The Revelation of God Hi to everyone and God bless you. In the reading assignment of this week, the author of the textbook observes that "Christian theology seeks to understand the God revealed in the Bible and to provide an understanding of God's creation, particularly human beings, and their condition, and God's redemptive work" (Erickson 2015, p. 52-53). After reading and analyzing the assignment I will answer the following questions, What is your present concept of God? Explain. I believe that God is responsible for the creation of every aspect of the universe and the designer of everything. As our creator, God gave us life and rules of how to enjoy it. Also, he let us have free will to decide our thoughts or actions and decide if we want to have a relationship with him or not. God leaves us some instructions on how we can seek our salvation in the Bible for us to study and follow to the best of our abilities. 1 John 4:8 New International Version, "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love”. How is it possible for a person to “know” that they “know” God? When a person accepts God as their savior and chooses to follow God's path the person starts to develop a closer relationship with God. That solitude time with God, studying the Bible, and following his guidance allows a person to "know" that they "know" God. I believe that God is in everyone's heart and soul. We only need to have the opportunity to "know" God and let him work in our hearts. Ezekiel 36:26 NIV "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh”.
Is it possible to understand God apart from the Bible? As a Christian, I think that it is impossible to establish a good relationship with God without knowing the story, guidance, or doctrine. To "know" a person I need to know his background what are their beliefs, how they think or acts, and are the same way as God. To “know” him a person needs to study the Bible to have an understanding of his doctrine. References New International Version Bible. (2011).
