Organizing the Church of Jesus Christ
“FOUNDATIONS” NOTES
[What important historical events and/or doctrinal teachings from class today could be considered
“foundational” to the Restoration? Which of these might I want to write about in my final “Top Ten
Foundations of the Restoration Paper” due at the end of the course? Why? (75 word minimum)]
Concerning the church, the Lord uses the word reformation rather than restoration. In the
scriptures it mentions that the gospel is emerging from the wilderness. God is calling it
forth out of the wilderness. He waited for the right time to bring forth the final pieces of
the restoration.
Child= the kingdom of God (political kingdom of Christ; fully grown in the Millennium)
the kingdom will protect the church. The kingdom will govern and rule the earth, this is
what’s coming. You cannot be a member of the church and still follow the laws of the
kingdom of God
The Women= the church of God
Dragon= Satan
PERSONAL INSIGHTS & REFLECTIONS
[What important personal insights did I gain in class today? And from what I learned and felt, what is
most relevant in my life right now? Why? (100-300 words)]
The church is going to emerge from the wilderness. This thought is so cool, and I have never heard of it
before. When I think about the restoration of the gospel, I thought that the gospel was completely gone
from the earth and that Joseph restored the entire gospel. I learned in the reading and in class that the
entire church was not off the earth, only the most important parts. This is why God uses the word
reformation instead of restoration. Reformation means bring something back together or adjusting
something to make it better. Priesthood keys needed to be brought back and restored on earth. This part is
the Restoration.
As well as tying in my thoughts to what was taught in class. This comment was made, “You can’t govern
the kingdom without the priesthood.” Everything in our gospel ties back to the priesthood and the power
of it.
