Hello Class,
Christianity has been shaped through cooperation many times throughout history. Western
religions cooperate with one another as Jesus Christ was a Jewish religious leader who later
became the central figure for Christianity. Jesus was also a prophet in Muslim tradition and the
precursor to Muhammad. Christianity also cooperated with the Roman Empire as it became the
state religion. Christianity changed from private practice to public practice and integrated with
Roman law and government. They fought their enemies, and still maintained the essence of
Jesus’ teachings and missions. Lastly, Christianity cooperated with education to create
Universities. Starting out with St. Benedict setting out his Monastic Rule, regulating the
foundations of monasteries. Prior to the establishment of universities, higher education took
place in Christian cathedral schools or monastic schools. The cooperation between Christianity
and higher education set the ground works for the Carolingian Renaissance.
