Biblical Worldview Pre-Assignment Write a 100-word paragraph response to each of the following questions. Support views with Scripture. What is the basis for reality? Does God exist?
What shapes our reality is this mix of what we see around us and the complex tapestry of our own experiences. In the Bible, Genesis 1:26 talks about how we humans are somehow deeply linked to reality, like a reflection of God. It is this idea that our own existence is a big deal in how we shape and understand what is real. Now, when it comes to God, Romans 1:20 hints that just by looking at the world, you can catch a glimpse of divine qualities. Bringing together what we see in the world and what we get from scripture makes our understanding richer, digging into the layers of reality while also pointing to its tie with the divine.
What is the basis for truth?
Truth is like the heartbeat of God, according to the Bible. In John 14:6, Jesus puts it this way: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It is like He’s saying, “I’m the real deal.” This makes truth not some far-off idea but a living part of who He is. Psalm 119:160 adds that God’s word is not just a rulebook but a testament to enduring truth. So, in everyday terms, truth is anchored in the rock-solid character of God, like a friend you can always count on, and in the timeless wisdom tucked away in His Word.
What values should anchor life decisions?
When it comes to life decisions, I think it is all about grounding them in timeless values that are found in the Bible. Take Proverbs 3:5-6, for instance – it is like wise advice urging us to trust in the Lord wholeheartedly and not just rely on our own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all our ways, and our path will straighten out. It is about trusting in something greater. And then, in Matthew 22:37-39, there is this emphasis on loving God with everything and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Those values – trust, love, and connecting with a higher purpose – create a sturdy framework for navigating the complexities of life’s decisions with integrity and wisdom.

What is the purpose for education, based on your answers to the first three questions?
Education has several vital roles. Firstly, it is this journey to really understand our place in the world – the everyday aspects and those deeper connections that we share, like Genesis 1:26 talks about. And then, education takes on this other role – it becomes a guide for living with solid values. Proverbs 3:5-6 shows us the way to trust in God during our journey, and Matthew 22:37-39 underscores the huge importance of love – loving God and loving others. So, education is not just about facts; it is about molding people to make life’s choices with a blend of intelligence, compassion, and a sense of purpose tied to some higher principles.
