Reflective Essay Assignment OBST 515 Old Testament Orientation I October 12, 2023
1 As related to Esther and God’s redemptive mission, what is the significance of timing, the place, and the choice to be made by her? I believe that Esthers timing was divinely ordered and revealed by God to Mordecai as to the exact place she was to intervene which was after hearing the edict that Mordecail and his people were to be killed. . Hamilton tells us, “Upon hearing of that edict, Mordecai implores Esther to use her position to speak as intercessor before her royal husband. At first hesitant, she subsequently agrees to get involved, even if it costs her life. Her strategy is first of all to host a banquet to which her husband and Haman are invited.” 1 Even it it cost her life, Esther was willing to approach the king as if she remained silent, would have caused her to die as with along with the other Jews in the nation. It is at this point that we see the reason Esther was chosen to be Queen was to save the Jews from murder. As related to you and God’s redemptive mission, what is the significance of time, place, and choice as related to God advancing his redemptive mission in and through your life today? Amazingly I was born again of the water and of the Spirit based on Acts 2:38 about 160 days after my dad was murdered. I was 14 years old and turned 15 a few days after we buried my father. My life was a wreck until a started High School that Fall of 1996 and that is when his redemptive mission was advanced in my life. The call to preach came after I was married in my mid-30s and when I look at today, I can see God had his hand on me the entire time. 1 Victor P.
