Biblical Metanarrative Essay Assignment
The Bible is filled with multiple small stories, which have been put together,
to build a complete story covering four major parts. These parts are called the Creation, the Fall, the Redemption, and the New Creation. The Metanarrative of the Bible is how we see, hear, feel, and learn about God’s plan for all humanity. The Bible contains much more than stories that have been told, it has lessons we can learn from, and it’s a way to help guide Christians to live their life. There is so many examples of God’s grace and love, they can be included with the Metanarrative, and it projects how God really cares. When watching the presentation, “
Understanding the Metanarrative
”, we was told that metanarrative combines all the stories of the Bible into one. There are
so many books in the Bible that contains a large span of time, genres, places, and audience. The four parts the Creation, the Fall, the Redemption, and the New

Creation tells a lot about who God is. The metanarrative connects the various stories and books of the Bible. The Creation, is where everything started, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”
(Genesis 1:1-2, NIV)
This was the beginning of God’s creation for everything in the world. The Fall, is when Adam and Eve sinned in the
garden. “But God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle
of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die’” (Genesis 3:3)
The Redemption, is where our almighty God gave humanity a second chance, by sending his son Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17)
Overall, God sent his son to die for our sins. The New Creation, is about God restoring all mankind and the world. I believe that Faith means one’s strong belief in God, with complete trust in their religion. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
We have never seen God or Jesus Christ, but we Christians have faith due to his stories. We are assured by researching and learning through the scriptures in the Bible. I know God is powerful, because when
I pray and believe, God always finds a way to help. For example, when I was very

sick, I lost strength and felt weak. I prayed to God for his healing touch to give me strength, and to look over me. I put so much faith in my prayers, hoping that the Lord heard me. Remaining hopeful with strong faith, God heard my prayers, and he gave me the strength I needed to get better. Faith is so important, because it is the means of our relationship with God. Faith is how we receive the benefits of what Jesus has done for us. Jesus died to pay the penalty of our sinful rebellion against God. Then Jesus rose from the dead to defeat sin, death, and the devil. While we put our faith in God/Jesus, we receive forgiveness for our sins and eternal life. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Worship can be different for everyone, but worship starts with spirit and truth. Christians can worship through songs known as hymns, dance, gatherings, scriptures, and attending church. Worship in the creation is discussed in the beginning of the bible. For example, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light” (genesis 1:1-3)
One way we can worship The Fall, is to practice doing well without sinning. If you do sin, it’s important to ask for forgiveness for the sins caused. When it comes to worship in Redemption, as Christians, we can be redeemed by getting baptized. This means

we allowed God into our hearts, and to wash away our sins. “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues” (Mark 16: 16-17) When the New Creation comes, worship will take place from God recreating humanity all over again. We can definitely see the metanarrative throughout every book in the Bible. We see it through stories, proverbs, and psalms that are spoken. There are so many authors, genres, and styles we see in the Bible. This book guides us how we live our lives, and how God communicates to us. We can definitely hear what god has to say, throughout Creation, The Fall, Redemption, and The New Creation. We can
see what God has planned for us, even if we don’t understand it. This is why the metanarrative in the Bible is so important, because it gives us a better understanding and gives us a closer relationship to God.
