Kalei Pollock (1) What scriptural verses or topics you focused on in your study, and (2) at least one thing you learned as you studied. I read Jacob 7, Enos, Jarom, Omni, Words of Mormon, and Mosiah 1 for this week's study journal. I decided to focus on Enos 1:2-3. I related to these verses and found that I had them highlighted on my phone and in my hard-copy scriptures. The verses read: 2 And I will tell you of the a wrestle which I had before God, before I received a b remission of my sins. 3 Behold, I went to hunt beasts in the forests; and the words which I had often heard my father speak concerning eternal life, and the a joy of the saints, b sunk deep into my heart. While studying these two verses, I found/learned that Enos is explaining his personal spiritual journey and the process by which he received forgiveness for his sins. He describes a "wrestle" with God, which signifies a deep and sincere struggle in prayer and seeking forgiveness. Enos mentions that he had heard his father speak about "eternal life" and "the joy of the saints." These teachings profoundly impacted him and "sunk deep into my heart." This means that he took his father's words to heart, which had a lasting effect on him, prompting him to seek a closer relationship with God. Enos describes his experiences in greater detail in the verses after, including his prayers for himself and the welfare of his people, the Nephites. His story is often cited as an example of sincere repentance and the power of prayer in the Book of Mormon. In the following verses, Enos describes how he received a remission of his sins through his faith in Christ and the mercy of God. I believe everyone has their own type of spiritual journey, but I strongly resonated with Enos in these verses because I recently had my own “wrestle” with God over a decision that was very important to me. So, I feel like this week's scripture study coincided with what I was going through and trying to figure out, and it made me feel at peace every time I opened the scriptures and read.
