Report
Teach a Friend Report Name : Paul S Shenjere Mutiswa Who did you teach : Friend (just specify the relation to you, i.e. – neighbor, friend at work, etc.) Instructions Write your responses to the items below. Make sure to answer each of the questions in your responses. Note that the minimum word count for full credit is 150 words (total of all responses). Your instructor will grade you according to the grading rubric in the assignment in your course. When referencing a passage, include the citation and paste the actual passage into your response. If the passage is long, just cite it and abbreviate or summarize it so the reader knows what the passage is about but it doesn’t take up too many lines on this report. Note - boxes will expand as you type Describe your experience: Provide a thoughtful reflection of your experience. What gospel principle from this week’s lesson did you teach? Include specific quotes or references to scripture or prophetic teachings that you used. How did it go? How did you feel while teaching and afterward? What reaction or feedback did you receive? What teaching methods did you use (thought-provoking question, discussion, game, object lesson, video, other method)? Starting a conversation of the creation and the fall seemed so hard but I am so happy that the spirit was present to help me address what needed to be taught and learned. I started from the creation and explained how we were created as spirits and how the plan of salvation was on effect. I jumped into the fall, mentioning the importance of agency at the same time focusing on following the Lord’s Plan of happiness. Having said all that, I concluded with the atonement and how it helps us get back to God and living with him. The sacrifice that Jesus Christ made that one day will enable us to be with our loving heavenly father. During the conversations I was truly bombarded by questions which was a good sign that my dear friend was listening. I got questions like, “Where were you when the whole plan was being created?”, “Was I present or I was somewhere else in another place?”. I opened scriptures in my phone to help him understand, asked thought-provoking questions and left him with commitments to read 2 Nephi2, Doctrine and Covenants 29 and I sent him a copy of the talk to read by President Russell M Nelson. “The Creation”, from the Ensign of April 2000 that I need to follow up on. Describe the insights you gained: What did you learn from this experience about being a teacher of the gospel? What deeper insights or understanding of the principle(s) being taught did you gain from teaching the principle(s) to another person? One thing that made me happy knowing is that some people are not as far as we think from learning and understanding the gospel. They are very close and when the spirit is present minds are opened and we gain a better understanding of what the Lord wants us to learn, know and do. I was very humbled by some of the scriptures that my friend opened in the bible supporting the creation, the fall and the atonement. The atonement touches a lot of people in ways that I can’t fully express. Be it members of our faith and no members. I felt the spirit present when my friend shared his testimony about the atonement. My testimony was strengthened as well and I am so confident that a seed was planted into his heart and more of good news is coming. I believe such incidents can be found in our day to day lives, and I believe we can make
use of these small but later will turn to be great opportunities.
