The goals of Applied Behavior Analysis are "to achieve a thorough understanding of the phenomena under study-socially important behavior change, in the case of applied behavior analysis”(Cooper, Heron, Heward, 2020). As BCBA’s we strive “to establish and enhance socially important behaviors. Such behaviors can include academic, social, communication, and daily living skills; essentially, any skill that will enhance the independence and quality of life for the individual.”(Hendricks, D., Palko, S., & Dreyfus).I am not currently working but aspire to work in a school setting. With this ABA program, I would like to be able to give parents and staff the tools needed to help disabled students thrive in an inclusive classroom setting. As a parent of an autistic child, I have seen firsthand how it is very difficult for children to succeed in a traditional education setting when the adults in charge do not understand how to best support the students. At my core, I enjoy helping other people, especially people with higher support needs It's important to me to have a career that has a positive impact on my community. The professional goal that I hope to achieve throughout this ABA program is to have the knowledge and skills to provide the proper support for students and families while they matriculate through the public education system. Based on my pre-assessment I need to dedicate a lot of time to studying. I need to carve out plenty of time throughout the day to study. I will set aside 30 minutes, 3 times a day to go over the study material. I will carry my iPad with me at all times so I can study whenever it's convent for me. I also will have my sister quiz me to make sure I am retaining the information and not answering based on visual prompts. My personal goal for this class is to create a positive starting point for completing the entire Master's program. I want to finish this class with a deep understanding of the terms and ideas presented in this class. I need to make sure my studying methods are perfected to keep up with my studies. Also, my final goal is to complete every assignment on time.
