2 Project Three Milestone Select the topic and explain why you selected that topic. Your response should be about 2 to 3 sentences. The topic that i selected to discuss further was "Police Striking Adults." The reason that I chose this topic is because over the past couple of years, police brutality has become a hot topic. I would like to uncover if there is any relationship between police brutality and the race of a person. Create an annotated bibliography entry for your first article . Your response should be about 8 to 10 sentences that include the following elements: A description of the main purpose or goal of the article A description of the approach the authors took in their research DeSilver, D., Lipka, M., & Fahmy, D. (2020, June 3). 10 things we know about race and policing in the U.S. Pew Research Center. https://www.pewresearch.org/shortreads/2020/06/03/10-things-we-know- about-race-and-policing-in-the-u-s/ In the article 10 things we know about race and policing in the U.S., the main purpose of the article is illustrate how people feel about the justification and actions towards people of different races by police officers. The way that this article is structured, I believe that this article is an editorial piece. w. "Most of the findings in this post were drawn from two previous Pew Research Center reports: one on police officers and policing issues published in January 2017, and one on the state of race relations in the United States published in April 2019. We also drew from a September 2016 report on how black and white Americans view police in their communities" (DeSilver et al., 2020). In this article there is no new data used just findings from the first publications. According to the data in the article, individuals in the U.S. who identify their race as being black feel that they are treated to a lesser extent of equality as compared to their white-identifying counterparts. In this article the data also shows that a majority on white-identifying Americans were in agreement with black-identifying Americans that they are treated unfairly in relation to how they are treated by police officers. In this article it also shows that people who identify with a certain political party have different views on how police treat black people in the United States. In this article the author did not show any new data to back up is claims, he just used data that was previously researched and used it in his article. Create an annotated bibliography entry for your second article . Your response should be about 8 to 10 sentences that include the following elements: A description of the main purpose or goal of the article A description of the approach the authors took in their research
3 Graziano, L. M., & Gauthier, J. F. (2017). Examining the racial-ethnic continuum and perceptions of police misconduct. Policing and Society, 29(6), 1–16. https://doi.org/10.1080/10439463.2017.1310859In This article the analysis tries to find if there are any racial ethic perceptional contrast in attitudes towards police misconduct and if it is ongoing and why. The data in the article shows that there were different variations and substantial l percentage of African Americans consider police misbehavior to be a major/minor problem compared to all other racial-ethnic ensembles. The statistics in this article came from a study that was done by several phone interviews that w ere conducted in a moderate sized California town and used a younger averaged age individual. The study also used individuals with a higher averaged salary and who were well educated. The data provide is not a representation of the population of the U.S. Describe the difference in communication style of the two articles. Your response should be about 3 to 5 sentences. Consider the following in your response: Do the articles reach a similar conclusion? Do the articles present similar information? Do the articles consider the role of visuals in the same way? Do the articles present the findings in a convincing way, and is one more effective? How do the tone and style of the articles compare, and what does that mean for the reader? In both of these articles, they come to a similar conclusion even though they use different styles. Both of the articles do present similar information. The first article was written for the average person. The second article was written more for the scientific community. In both of these articles, the author uses studies and data that was previously published and they both uses opinions to guide their information. Both of the articles do a good job of being convincing, but the second article is more professionally written and offers data as accurately as possible.
