As an elementary education teacher , you will make decisions based on your knowledge of child development continuously, many times without even realizing it. Over the years, child development research and theory has shaped early childhood education and the decisions teachers make in the classroom. After watching the video below, describe a time when you observed what you believed to be atypical development of a child in the physical, cognitive, or social-emotional domain. What knowledge did you base this from? Discuss the ways you will differentiate activities and make instructional decisions in your classroom based on children’s developmental readiness. I have worked in a daycare setting for 4years . Where the students came from social economic backgrounds and different learning needs. I tough in the prek3 program where a two little boys was having a great morning they both came in the class put their things away and came sat at the breakfast table to eat . After they finish eating breakfast they started playing together on the carpet and one got really frustrated over a toy police car and push the other students down to hurt himself . This was not a normal behavior of the student and I had to intervene and provided conflict resolution of defining the problem and using communication . The way I will differentiate activities and make instructional decisions in my classroom based on children’s developmental readiness is by assigning different job role in the class, have some calm down activities, small groups . Set and model expectations and implement. social emotion learning for morning meeting or circle time. I think its great idea to have maybe like different learning stations for the students .
