Procedures/Lesson Development: (Provide the steps to complete this lesson, including introductory activities, guiding questions, and instructional activities.) Find a book that is developmentally appropriate for the age group. The book I used was Thumpers Fluffy Tail. Start by trying to get the babies to either sit on your lap or to sit around you Tell them you are going to read them a book. Start reading the book. While reading show the babies the pictures in the books. Point out different things in the book and explain what they are. You can say things like: This is a bunny, Look at the pretty flowers (say the colors of the flowers), This is a butterfly, lets count the bunnies (1, 2 , 3, 4, 5) The book I read was a touch and feel book so on every page there was a different texture for the babies to touch. Try to get through the whole book but not all the babies will sit and pay attention. Redirect them if they try to pull the book off you. You can say “were not done yet” or “let’s keep reading.” Resources: (List all resources, websites, and other resources needed to conduct this lesson.) I will assess to see if they are comfortable enough to sit with me, next to me, or on my lap. While reading I will watch to see if they are engaged with the book by making different noises, pointing to different objects in the book, and feeling the different texture on each page. Differentiated Instruction & Accommodations: (List teaching techniques used to differentiate instruction and any accommodations needed to meet the needs of a diverse group of children) Flexibility in learning goals for each baby Customize teaching to suit multiple forms of intelligence.
