0NAME: Using information from the textbook chapters and videos this week, answer the questions in the study guide. While formulating your response, make sure to use correct terms and definitions. Reference information you use from the textbook by citing the page number using correct APA formatting. For the Motor Milestones and Language Learning Milestones charts, please write the milestone AND the estimated age. For example, clip 1 for Motor Milestones would say: Holding head up; 1 month. Strange Situation Video What aspects of relationships need to be encouraged for secure attachment? There are multiple aspects of a relationship that need to be encouraged for secure attachment. The first being love, intimacy and comfort. Research has shown that a securely attached toddler might “climb down from the caregivers lap” to pick up a toy and then come bring it back to the caregiver (Berger, 2021, pg. 182). Then the caregiver acknowledges the toy, interacts with the child to help them feel “comfortable, confident and secure.” Another aspect of a relationship can be a sense of safety. For example, when a kid is handed to a friend to hold but he baby immediately turns back around to the mom, reaching and screaming for dear life, this shows the safety and trust that has been formed. This is also an example os insecure-resistant/ ambivalent attachment. That is a “pattern of attachment in which an infant’s anxiety and uncertainty are evident, as when the infant becomes very upset at separation from the caregiver and both resist and seeks contact on reunion” (Berger, 2021, pg. 182). After watching the video about child care, write what you will look for if you need child care for your child. Patience and understanding are the most important thing to me. Understanding is important because it will show me that the caregiver cares about my child and cares to understand how to best help them. I want someone who is patient to help my child develop in ways that are best for them. I also think it is important to have someone who is educated and confident in taking care of my child. I want what is best for my child, so having someone who has the same mindset with make a world of a difference.
