2 Cultural Artifacts Introduction In this assignment, the selected cultural artifact for the analysis in the context of social psychology is 'Remember the Titans.' Boaz Yakin directed the sports drama film "Remember the Titans" in 2000, which is based mainly on the true story of a high school soccer squad that contends with racial integration and tension. Theme The film depicts how a diverse group of people can come together and work toward a shared goal (Caryl, 2019). Coach Boone, the primary character, gathers players from all races and backgrounds to form a team initially split by race. Plot The plot revolves around the terrible experiences and achievements of a racially mixed football team as they work together to overcome prejudice and build strong relationships both on and off the field. It delves into racial discrimination, personal gain, teamwork, and management. The fundamental tensions stem from the enormous campus, the first reaction from white and black college students, and the network (Caryl, 2019). High school football is a way of life in Virginia, a cherished tradition, with each game celebrated more lavishly than Christmas and each playoff more grandly than any national excursion. And with such a reputation comes strong emotions. Characters Coach Herman Boone: The African American leader appointed to command the safe football team. He is a commanding character who believes in peace and concern (Devereaux & Turner, 2023). Despite the resistance he faced from the assistant coach and the Caucasian

3 players, he excelled in coaching the team composed of both white and black students to success. Coach Bill Yoast: The white assistant coach, initially the head coach, struggles with adjusting to his new role and racial tensions within the team. He does not support the black Coach Herman in performing duties due to his racial preoccupation. Gerry Bertier: A white group captain who reconsiders racial integration. He works with people from different races to see that the team wins. Julius Campbell: A significant black ensemble member who is close to Gerry Bertier. His cooperation with the team captain is considered an excellent team performance. Scenes that Describe Social Thinking, Social Relations, and Influence Social Thinking Locker Room Integration: For the first time, black and white gamers are depicted sharing the same locker room in one of the early sequences (Garland et al., 2021). As they hang on to racial prejudices and biases, the anxiety and sorrow that varied game enthusiasts experience symbolize their basic social notion. Social Influence Coach Bill Yoast's decision: When coach Yoast decides to step down as head coach to educate Boone manually, his decision tremendously impacts the crew. It depicts how authority figures and power may influence social dynamics and create harmony. Social Relations Friendships: One of the most important subjects is the formation of friendships among gamers of all nationalities. The marriage of Gerry Bertier and Julius Campbell is a classic example. They initially clash due to racial tensions, but they eventually become firm friends, indicating advanced social family members within the team.

4 Conclusion The movie "Remember the Titans" is a cultural artifact that depicts how society relates and brings harmony and co-existence between the blacks and the whites. Due to its reality and the true story, it educates society on matters of prejudice and the friendship that needs to exist for the excellent performance of individuals and teamwork.
