2 Although major depressive disorder and suicide ideation are extremely serious and even fatal mental health diseases, it is vital to recognize that many other mental illnesses can have just as much of an impact, if not more. Each mental disorder has its own set of dangers, and these risks can range in both type and severity. Since roughly 38% of people worldwide may experience depression at some point in their life, there is an immediate need to better understand the causes of depression and develop effective treatments. There may be a genetic link between the two conditions of depression and mania. Sleep difficulties, which have been linked to depression and other mental health challenges, can add to the physical and emotional distress that sufferers already experience. Persistent worries about the future are symptomatic of many mental health conditions. Extreme mood swings, or bipolar illness, may have their origins in alterations in brain structure and function, in genetics, in the environment, or with age. Symptoms of manic episodes in patients with bipolar disorder include sleep difficulties, a confused perspective of time, and a high urge for mental activity. Social isolation has been linked to depression in certain research. Accurately diagnosing bipolar disorder requires professionals to be able to tell the difference between hypomania (a milder form of mania) and full-blown manic episodes. People with bipolar disorder may be more vulnerable to suicide ideation during their manic episodes, thus doctors need to use extreme caution when prescribing medication at these times. Tranylcypromine, despite different viewpoints between pharmaceutical corporations and medical authorities regarding its effectiveness, remains a potential therapy choice for bipolar illness and significant depression. There may be a correlation between those who have sought therapy for mental health difficulties and the disturbingly high suicide incidence in the United States. Enhancing mental health care systems, decreasing stigma, and increasing access to treatment are all potential measures for lowering suicide rates and helping people in need. Realize that there is a wide range of mental health issues that need to be addressed. While serious mental health issues like depression and suicidal ideation are obviously serious and require treatment, there are many other mental health issues that also require attention and care.
